Dream Fragments

September 28, 2006 - Glyphs and Zombies

Dream:

Approached by an Asian lady, told that I had to finish a chalk drawing on the floor by creating 18 sections using certain symbols. She had started the drawing, but i had to finish it. I took my time, trying to do it right, when a guy walked up with a red pushpin in his forehead that held a scrap of paper with a strange symbol on it that meant water. The Asian lady declared it meant a storm was coming. I took the pushpin out from his head, and the man thanked me.

As night approached, I noticed some sick people wandering towards our group. I realized they were zombies once they started attacking normal, healthy people. I had not been able to finish the logic problem of a chalk circle on the floor. As the zombies came towards us, I tried sketching the symbol for Holy in the air, but had to fake it because I couldn't remember it well. Next I tried the symbol for water. Nothing. Then I tried the symbol for fire and wiggling my fingers at a zombie, but nothing happened. Then I made the motion of loosing an arrow from a bow, and a faint flame bolt arced into a zombie.

Despite finally finding an effective weapon against the zombie masses, the Asian lady and I were getting overwhelmed in the zombie craziness. As things started getting bleak, I noticed Ash-bob had shown up and seemed to be refereeing the fight. At one point I made the bow motion and added a "twip" noise at a sophisticated young black woman zombie, who then promptly turned around an complained that just because I made a "twip" noise did not mean she was dead. I explained that although I shot it into her face, I could have missed and it was up to Ash-bob to decide her fate.

Light was coming, and the zombies faded out. The survivors had made their way to a rectory, Father David's church, from Ash-bob's SHARDS story. I asked out loud whether this would be a safe and warded place. Ash-bob turned to me and stated "Duh, you should know that." I had set myself to completing the chalk circle logic problem inside the rectory with others running the research on the symbols for me. I wanted this done, complete and correct.

Realizing this was all a dream, I woke.
